Together with his wife, Joyce Quaranta Chupka, and their daughter Jamie, John co-authored, It Went Without Saying. They wrote the book to encourage others to speak openly about the many faces of addiction. Told in each of their voices, it is a personal story about the power of love, life, and forgiveness in the face of addiction. The Chupkas are in involved in transforming communities one neighborhood at a time and one family at a time. They are available individually or collectively for speaking and workshop engagements.

John received his B.A. From Siena College in 1968. John also received his MSW from Syracuse University and is a licensed certified social worker.
